Papillon Dermatology is becoming Saguaro Dermatology – Mesa!

Dear Patients and Friends,

Thank you for your confidence and trust in allowing us to take care of you and your dermatology needs throughout the years. We have been truly blessed by your long commitment and compassion toward us.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 40 years since we began practicing medicine. What a ride it has been! In that time, we have experienced and learned so much from all of you. We can’t begin to express how much of an impact that all of you have had on us. Each one of you will always be a big part of our being as we enter the next phase of our lives.

As you may or may not know, over the past several months we have seriously begun planning for our eventual retirement. We recognize that now is the time to begin a transition plan to a new dermatologist. Because we truly care about and value our relationship with each of you, we have carefully evaluated several candidates. It was important to us that we not sell out to a corporate owned dermatology group. We are happy to tell you that we have teamed up with Dr. Dathan Hamann and Saguaro Dermatology; a local dermatologist with deep Arizona roots.

Dr. Hamann is a native of Arizona and an honors graduate of the University of Arizona medical school, after which he completed a residency in dermatology at Ohio State University. His wife, Liza, is a dentist with a practice in Phoenix and they are kept busy with their toddler son. Dr. Hamann is passionate about dermatology and patient care. He is a member of multiple medical associations and is active in the community. Volunteering and community service have been demonstrated priorities in his life.

Dr. Thaler will continue working with Dr. Hamann in a full-time capacity for the next few years to ensure a smooth transition and to assist him in getting to know you and your medical needs. When the threat of COVID subsides or a vaccine becomes available, Dr. Ubogy will return to work on a part time basis. Dr. Hamann will continue to primarily work out of his Phoenix office while spending a day or two each week in Mesa. All our staff members will remain with the practice, eager to provide the same excellent care that you have come to expect. Going forward, Papillon Dermatology will transition to Saguaro Dermatology which will now have two locations to better serve you and your family. Between now and November, you will begin to see changes reflected in the branding, including updates to signage in our clinic, on our billing, and to the website.
